Lecture notes, seminar presentations and research resources in cosmology, gravitation and mathematical physics.

Lecture Notes in Cosmology

Lecture Notes in Cosmology, first edition

First published with Springer in 2018, these notes grew out of my cosmology teaching. An extended, updated and corrected version is available on arXiv and forms the basis of the forthcoming second edition.

Topics include the expanding Universe, thermal history, cosmological perturbations, Boltzmann equations, initial conditions, stochastic perturbations, inflation, and cosmic microwave background temperature and polarisation anisotropies.

Research resources

Geodesics

A monograph in progress using Vieta’s formulas to classify massive and massless particle trajectories in black-hole geometries. It currently covers Schwarzschild and, in part, Kerr solutions.

Mathematica codes

Research codes for neutron-star structure and mass–radius diagrams, supernova likelihoods in wCDM, and likelihood contours and probability densities. The supernova code was developed for the Union2 dataset.
